1974

Last week I got an email forwarded to me from one of the women Megan worked with at The Old Spaghetti Factory. Megan worked there for about 13 years in their interior design department. She helped plan and set up the new restaurants and kept track of all of the "stuff" to keep them looking great. Before she died she had been working on a new opening in Rancho Mirage, California.....When they set up the new facility this is the shirt they all wore. Gene and I were so touched by this tribute.....

.....and then they dated the trolley 1974...the year Megan was born to honor her yet again. We were overwhelmed. If you are over that way, be sure to stop in and raise a glass to Megs. I know it will make her smile.....

Tomorrow is Brown Bag Friday....they seem to be coming quicker and quicker....but all is ready and the cookies are baked....I am off to read awhile before bed..... Goodnight, Jo Ann

SQUIRM

Nick had his big debut on stage on Thursday evening....Here he is with his friend Ryan dressed up in their worm costumes...He told me he thought they looked more like elves than worms, but when they were all on stage it looked great!

John and Sophie were in the audience early. Of course so were all the 1st and 2nd grade parents and grandparents, so it was VERY crowded.

They even had a fun program that listed all the songs. The show only lasted 1/2 hour...perfect timing for that age.

....and here is the stage. I tried for some action shots during the production, but it was was too dark and I was too far away for my camera.....You will have to use your imagination...:)))

I was so glad to be there and share in the fun. I flew home last night and got to bed after midnight....and I am off to the Loft this morning. Hopefully I won't fall asleep while cutting fabric....:))) Have a great Monday.....and stay away from things that make you squirm!

Fat Cats

The Fat Cats are taking a trip today....I am sending them off to Primitive Quilts and Projects for their Fall Issue....I will miss them. They have been watching over all the work being done in my studio this last week....(I wish they would have cleaned up all the piles of wool I have been using...what a mess)

I am off to the Loft this morning to teach...and then help get ready for the San Diego Cruisin' Quilters. The quilt run starts tomorrow. Hope to see some of you during it. It is always a lot of fun. Have a great weekend....Jo Ann

Cara T. Rabbit

Last Friday I taught a class in the garage of the store's 1912 house. I added an extra class for this bunny without checking the class schedule and Tina was already teaching in the shop......so Kathy and I moved all the antiques around and squeezed in as many as we could!

Beth and Karen were such good sports that they moved out under the picnic table for awhile and stuffed and hand stitched ....

Here is Sandra with her green bunny. We all loved it. She made her shoes out of the trim from a recycled sweater!.....and check out her plaid wool nose.

and here are Kay and Andrea with theirs....Kay has hers all finished and Andrea is well on her way. I taught it on Saturday too (in the classroom this time) and there were rabbits of every color you could imagine!

With all these bunnies showing up, it looks like spring is right around the corner!

Antique stitching

Years ago Megan and I went to visit a quilt shop in Battle Ground, Washington. It was called Cottons and was in an old church. On the floor of the shop was a pile of old quilts that Deb the owner had just purchased. She hadn't even had time to display them. I couldn't resist digging through them (with her permission of course) I love old crazy quilts. For those of you who have done Wool Crazy that shouldn't be too big of a surprise..:) At the bottom of the stack was this quilt....not a crazy....but with wonderful crazy stitches. I had to have it and the price was great! It went home with me and is one of my favorites. It hangs in our bedroom, so I get to see it every morning when I wake up!

Here is a little bit closer shot.....Some of the fabric has seen better days, but all in all it is in pretty good shape. I am a firm believer that you should enjoy your antique quilts and we use ours to wrap up in on the couch and on our beds and walls.

I am off to teach a class today at the Loft....We'll have bunnies everywhere.

Have a happy weekend.....Jo Ann

Scattered Hearts

I got the nicest note yesterday from Patti Gagliardi. She sent me a photo of the runner she made after seeing my Scattered Hearts in Primitive Quilts and Projects. She wrote "I cut all the hearts free hand and stiched them all so that the hearts are touching each other signifying how all our hearts touch each other." I loved it and wanted you all to see it too! Thanks Patti!
